Commissioning Authority
Interface Engineering, an internationally recognized leader in high performance design, is seeking to add a Commissioning Authority to our Portland, OR/International Team. Relocation to Doha for two or more years is required. This role will be supporting a $5.5 billion dollar project will be located in Doha, Qatar. The opportunity will be an experience of a lifetime to join a team of elite professionals recreating a way of life by transforming a 31-hectare site at the center of Doha for residents to enjoy their city center.
Key responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to: systems design, specifications, project management and providing exemplary service to new and existing clients from kickoff through project completion including commissioning. Excellent client management and communication skills are a must.
Qualified candidates should have a BSME and at least 5 years of experience at a consulting engineering practice and project management specific to HVAC systems for educational, commercial, governmental, and healthcare projects. Minimum of 3 years of LEED Cx experience. Professional Engineering License and LEED Accreditation is definitely a plus. Expertise with Building Commissioning Authority and ASHRAE commissioning standards a requirement. BCxA Commissioning Authority (CCP) certification a plus.

Building Technologies Designer (Low Voltage Systems Designer)
Interface Engineering, an internationally recognized leader in high performance MEP design, is actively seeking a Building Technologies Designer for our Portland, OR office.
The Building Technologies team is an exceptional group of consultants who provide architects, contractors, and building owners clear, cost effective, and sustainable solutions for their building systems and infrastructure.
We integrate our cutting-edge building technologies into a wide variety of projects including K-12 and higher education learning environments, healthcare facilities, municipal facilities, and commercial buildings. Some of the building technology systems that we work on are: security systems, nurse call, intercom, paging, clocks, data/telephone, and audio/visual systems. The team works closely with architects, contractors, and building owners on the production of construction drawings, construction administration, and customer advocacy.
Key responsibilities for this position include, but may not be limited to:
- Design and layout engineering drawings.
- Draft the designs or supervise the drafting of designs.
- Work with the project engineer/designer to prepare specifications.
- Provide client contact and coordination meetings, with supervision of senior engineer/designer or project engineer/designer, as required on the project.
- Review equipment submittals under supervision of senior staff.
- Contact and coordinate with utilities under supervision of senior staff.
- Maintain confidentiality.
Qualified candidates should have:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the design, deployment, and construction administration of structured cabling systems, security systems, AV systems, and other low voltage building systems.
- The ability to rapidly acquire expertise in other building technologies areas.
- Current RCDD certification or capable of obtaining within 1 year of hire date.
- Willing and capable of obtaining additional BICSI and other leading technology industry recognized certifications within reasonable fixed time periods.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, with experience in Word, Excel. Experience with Revit desirable.
- Well-rounded knowledge of all codes and standards related to telecommunications and building technologies design/construction industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at one time.
- The ability and willingness to travel nationally (the expectation is that this will be a few times a month and many of the trips will not require overnight stay).
- The ability and willingness to occasionally travel internationally.
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance.
- Experience with Department of Defense/Department of State projects and/or international projects is preferred.

Electrical Engineer/Designer

San Francisco Office
Senior Lighting Designer
Interface Engineering, an internationally recognized leader in high performance building design, is actively seeking a Senior Lighting Designer in San Francisco, California to continue the growth of our Lighting Studio. This person will work on projects in San Francisco as well as other locations nationally. Occasional travel to offices outside of San Francisco may be required.
Within Interface, the Lighting Studio is an exceptional team of lighting experts who create high-level architectural lighting design independently, as well as in concert with our MEP consultants, working on a wide variety of creative projects. Our Studio members are not engineers, but are versed in the various components that make up lighting design, such as industrial design, architecture, and art. Members of the Lighting Studio work in a highly collaborative culture at Interface Engineering.
Key responsibilities for this position include, but may not be limited to:
- Management and design of lighting for a wide variety of projects.
- Aggressive marketing to broaden the base of clients and projects.
- Effectively manage other lighting studio Team Members.
- Delivery of reflected ceiling plans, luminaire schedules, energy code compliance forms, lighting calculations for daylight and electric lighting, written reports, specifications and mock-ups.
- Maintaining a high level of knowledge on current technology.
- Being visible in the lighting community by participating in organizations and presenting at conferences and seminars.
- Responsible for designing systems within fee and construction budget
- Coordinating work with clients and checking work for conformance to scope/contract obligations.
- Recognizing potential liability problems quickly and seeking advice from senior staff.
- Providing markups and/or design direction to designers and drafters.
- Performing site observations and preparing observation reports and interpreting documents.
- Provides input on company design standards and specifications to improve quality.
- Observing and analyzing existing systems and providing evaluation.
- Reviewing equipment submittals for conformance to contract documents.
- Answering requests for information from contractors.
- Analyzing new product data and equipment for incorporation into design specifications.
- Performing and reviewing calculations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, AGI32, and daylighting design
- At least five years of solid and relevant experience
- Flexibility and ability to perform functions effectively in a multiple deadline, changing environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as interact effectively with others (including architects, mechanical and electrical engineers)
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
