Motivated
by a desire to construct LEED®-Certified
building as a prototype for future projects,
the Beaverton School District selected LSW Architects
and Interface Engineering to design their new
29,500 SF cafeteria. Providing HVAC and plumbing
design, Interface enabled the school to enjoy
a projected 49 percent annual energy savings
for the cafeteria which also doubles as a community
meeting place in the evenings and summer.
The cafeteria was designed as a multiple-use
room able to accommodate up to 600 individuals
for public events and school assemblies. The
first floor includes a kitchen and food preparation
area totaling 3,500 SF, along with a meeting
room, a custodial area and restrooms.
