Building Commissioning

Commissioning involves achieving, verifying and documenting the design intent of buildings' systems. The main benefit of commissioning is the assurance it provides the building owner that systems are installed appropriately, and functioning at or above required efficiency levels. A commissioned building, therefore, often has lowered operational and maintenance costs and increased overall performance. Interface has a successful history of providing commissioning services to building owners, both as the primary commissioning provider as well as being part of a supervising team working with third-party commissioning agents. Getting systems to operate properly involves solving many diverse challenges. We feel design engineers are uniquely qualified to verify performance of systems, solve problems, and verify the completion of all subcontractors' work in order to deliver a completely functioning system. At Interface, we feel that it is essential that we use the knowledge from our commissioning work as a feedback loop into our design process, as well as energy and natural ventilation analysis. In doing this we are able to deliver designs that achieve the efficiency and maintainability that building owners expect.
