Challenge standard practice.
We challenge building codes where necessary with results-oriented performance-based designs. We become a role model for others.
Right-Size
By not overdesigning HVAC systems, especially for cooling, we right-size the electrical services and generator backup systems. We also analyze demand and make wise use of energy storage opportunities.
Energy Assessment
We examine opportunities offered by a site’s microclimate and assess available free energy resources such as sun, wind, rain and natural ventilation.
Demand Reduction
We look for ways to reduce energy demand for major users, so supply systems can be smaller and less costly.
Load-Shifting
We use thermal energy storage systems to shift loads from peak to off-peak periods, allowing for cheaper power sources and system downsizing. We examine what loads can be interlocked so they don’t run simultaneously and systems can be right-sized.
Green Building Breakthrough
Engineering A Sustainable World, a 48-page educational booklet, shares the principles behind our innovative green building approach to The Center for Health & Healing, one of the first — and largest — LEED Platinum healthcare projects.
Fully operational for two years, the Center uses 40 percent less energy and 51 percent less water than a conventional building of the same size and program.
