Water

We see water as a valuable resource worth conserving for the future, and even in wet climates, water conservation makes sense. You can save money by the gallon if you reduce building water usage, collect rain, treat grey and blackwater, and close the water cycle within the building itself. With many of our projects, we’ve been able to achieve 50 percent water use savings with water reclamation measures.

Rainwater can often supply all your needs for water closets and urinals, hose bibs, cooling towers, irrigation, secondary fire suppression and other features. Plus, reclaim systems can decrease water treatment and conveyance costs and turn a potential liability — runoff and erosion — into an asset. Almost any building, in any part of the country, can accommodate rainwater collection. It’s a renewable resource we put to effective use for our clients.

The Oregon State Plumbing Board recently approved rainwater harvesting and greywater conservation systems as alternate methods for providing water. We’ve designed these systems for non-potable use, through appeals, for many years. The new regulations stem in part from our push for a more progressive, innovative approach.
