Capitol Crossing’s Innovative Approach to Stormwater Management

Informed Infrastructure

Dec 08, 2017

Our DC office is excited to be a part of the city’s transformative Capitol Crossing project, a $1.3 billion, 2.2 million sf complex built on seven acres of land above Interstate 395. When completed in 2021, the development will include offices; housing; 70,000 sf of retail space; more than 1,100 parking spaces; and a $200 million concrete platform connecting neighborhoods that have long been separated by the highway.

Stephen Kalach, PE, CPD, LEED AP, BD+C, a senior plumbing engineer and member of the project’s stormwater system design team, explained the design team’s approach to stormwater management in the September/October issue of Informed Infrastructure magazine. Read more about the team’s innovative approach to meeting the project’s ambitious stormwater retention and reuse performance goals.
