Interface Milestones

Jul 31, 2024

This last month, we were thrilled to celebrate the milestones of four outstanding team members — Nolan Murray (Electrical Designer), Erick Polk (Mechanical Designer), Kayla Ahnen (Revit Lead), and Adam High (Associate, IT Manager).

Principal Jim Sattem shares:

Nolan joined Team Steelhead to continue his professional growth designing complex healthcare and international projects. His knowledge at this early point of his career has surpassed expectations and his skill set has been a valuable addition to the team. His initiative to take on complex tasks, respond to client needs, and go the extra mile to produce a quality product has been invaluable. I couldn’t be happier to have Nolan as a part of our team. Congratulations on the first 5-years and I look forward to what the next 5-years holds!

Principal Andrew Lasse shares:

One of the things I value most about Erick is his determination — in 5 years he’s always shown an insatiable appetite to learn and contribute to Interface, our team, clients and fellow staff. Erick’s positive attitude and determination have made him an important asset to our team — he’s played a critical role in some of our largest projects, and with some of our best long term clients. He’s an excellent communicator, and always willing to step up and help us serve our clients the best way we can. Thank you Erick for your dedication and we look forward to the next 5 years!

Principal Mark O’Leary shares:

I think most of us would agree Kayla is spelled T-E-A-M, team. I think it is her nature and is a special quality cherished by Fire Team and our team. She anticipates project tasks well with little direction and is proactive keeping models well organized. Also, I feel like anything in Revit is possible to model when we need to be Prime in those rare occasions. It is a strong position to stand from when going after projects. One of her projects was the TriMet Washington Park Station and Robertson Tunnel that needed to be modelled in Revit. The tunnel system was modeled in Revit from as-built drawings and used in Computational Flued Dynamics (CFD) fire simulation by the fire team. I feel this and the comments I continuously receive from colleagues show breadth of skill. She has always been there for the team on the crazy deadline days helping us squeeze in that last touches at night that make our sets exceptional. She even saved my life last year when we needed electrical help. Kayla is big part of the recipe helping the Fire Team and Team Cypress be strong.

Principal Joe Schmid shares:

It’s hard to overstate Adam’s contribution to our IT systems and company. Since he joined the team in 2019, we have undertaken some of the biggest, most transformational IT changes in Interface’s 55 year history. Some of that has been highly visible like moving all of our data to Panzura and our desktops to VDI, but there have been a bunch of equally challenging back-end changes like replacing our SAN and Vmware systems, restructuring our network to improve security, and moving our server equipment to datacenters in Hillsboro and Boise. None of that would have been possible without Adam’s dedication and thorough, thoughtful planning and follow-through. He also brings a lot of fun to the team and is a great mentor. It’s been great seeing his abilities grow with each new challenge. Enjoy the 5 year recharge, Adam!
