The Queen Emma awarded NAIOP Kukulu Hale Renovation Award

May 27, 2022

Winners of NAIOP Hawaii 25th Annual Kukulu Hale Awards have been announced. The annual awards program recognizes excellence in Hawaii’s commercial real estate industry.

We are happy to share that ‘The Queen Emma’ won the Renovation Award in the Commercial /Other over 40,000 SF category.

After sitting abandoned for years, The Queen Emma, affectionately coined “the Pimple” building, is an adaptive reuse of the 1964 offices into affordable rental housing.

“We are so proud to have been able to contribute to this transformative project, converting this long empty building into much needed affordable housing. All adaptive reuse projects are challenging and offer many surprises, and this one was no exception. The entire project team did a great job of forging ahead and created a really great project.” -- Scott Sato, Principal, Interface Honolulu.
