Interface Engineering provided consulting for this new 610-bed student residence hall on the Sacramento State campus. This facility increases on-campus housing for the university by 50 percent, in keeping with their commitment to transform this former commuter school into a residential campus, while meeting sustainable design goals by reducing the number of cars commuting to the campus.
This project is the first LEED Gold certified project on the Sacramento State campus, and incorporates a variety of sustainable strategies, including energy efficient lighting and cooling systems, water efficient fixtures, and low VOC products. It also exceeds state energy requirements by one third, with Energy Star appliances, low flow sinks, and solar water heating.
As the commissioning agent, Interface verified the following systems: central plant; turbo core chillers; cooling towers; hot water boilers; domestic hot water boilers with solar panels; and fan coils.
