Historic Performing Arts Venue Revitalized for a New Generation
Originally built in 1936, the Garver Theater has established a decades-long fan base of enthusiastic theater goers. However, the Camus School District closed the beloved venue in 2009 due to safety concerns. In 2016, the community approved a $119 million construction bond that allowed for a major renovation, modernization, and seismic upgrade.
The new entry leads to an exquisite two-story lobby with large windows overlooking Camas and the Columbia River. New amenities include enhanced accessibility, a kitchenette, and a classroom/green room. Additionally, the 700-seat auditorium now has an updated control room with a new rigging system to operate the lights, curtains, scenery, and audio equipment.
