Providence Office Park, a six-story office building and five-story parking structure, was built on a tight urban site that required close coordination with the community and all stake holders. To support the project's LEED goals, Interface designed several sustainable systems:
- a chilled water system pulls out the heat generated by the IT closets and uses it to preheat the ventilation air for the building in the winter
- office lighting controlled with photocell sensors, reducing energy while providing a comfortable environment
- parking structure lighting, which uses daylight photo switching sensors to turn off the lights when natural light reaches a certain level, as well as occupancy sensors to regulate lights section by section, conserving energy and reducing light pollution
Interface also developed a system to capture and route the runoff to an upside down umbrella sculpture to effectively process the water runoff from the roof while also providing a welcoming entry way to the building.
