Salem Conference Center

The Salem Conference Center was designed to revitalize downtown Salem by building to modern standards, while at the same time melding with its historic surroundings.

Salem, Oregon

Client: LMN Architects, Arbuckle Costic Architects

Building Size: 78,000 sf

Project Cost: $22.3 million

Certifications: LEED EB Certified

Adjoining the new Phoenix Grand Hotel, the Salem Conference Center can host groups up to 1,800. The 29,000 sf of meeting space also includes a 12,000 sf grand ballroom. The prefunction areas of the conference center were given special attention. Because of their expansive quality and transient occupancy, they were designed to allow a much wider temperature range than would be possible in a confined space, such as the meeting rooms. Interface developed a number of ingenious design solutions to address this unique opportunity for energy savings.

In 2009, Interface was brought back to the Salem Conference Center to verify that the mechanical, lighting and water systems selected and installed several years prior were functioning interactively and in compliance with the Owner’s needs. Ultimately, the goal desired, was for the Conference Center to achieve LEED EB Certification.
