The new health sciences education building is a three story structure that contains academic space in three primary categories: 1) Active Learning Studios, 2) Skills and Simulation and 3) Administrative and Academic.
Interface was the MEP engineer of record for this Design-build project which was brought in on budget while still providing a host of sustainable solutions. Sustainable strategies included:
- increasing daylighting
- individual temperature controls throughout
- radiant slabs, and a cascading airflow system
- radiant heating and cooled slabs
- cascading airflow system to reduce system sizes
- mechanical thermal control in each occupied space
- LED lighting throughout
- aggressive daylighting and water strategies
- high efficiency envelope
