UC Merced Campus achieves LEED Platinum

Feb 06, 2021

Congratulations to University of California, Merced and the team for achieving LEED Platinum certification on all 11 buildings. UC Merced is the first public university in the U.S. to achieve this level of sustainability. The 2020 project continues to shine as a future-forward example for higher education projects. Congratulations to all involved Plenary Americas, Webcor, SOM, WRNS, HOK, Mahlum and Page Southerland Page.

It was an incredible experience for Interface’s team who worked on every one of the buildings, designing mechanical systems (1.2 million square feet of Higher Education) for student housing, dining, research and teaching laboratories, administrative, classroom, and health and wellness facilities. Not only did we meet high aspirations with respect to sustainability targets but also completed this massive project from start to finish in a little over four years (design and construction).
