This new housing building with living units, study areas and storage facilities are designed to be net-zero energy. Interface is also the MEP engineer for Chatham’s reconstructed barn auditorium, new Eco-Center, dining hall, and cafeteria. Buildings are targeting an Energy Use Index (EUI) of 20.
The Orchard House Residence Halls include the following: High efficiency ground source heat pump system with variable refrigerant heat recovery, Energy recovery units and dehumidifier, Building integrated photovoltaic system (roof), Solar thermal for domestic hot water preheat, Radiant ceilings for heating and cooling, Grey water treatment and recovery, Low flow plumbing fixtures, Extensive daylighting and Unit occupancy based controls.
