UC Santa Cruz plans to build high density housing communities for upper division undergraduates, graduate students and students with families. The housing will accommodate 3,000 new beds in apartment-style configurations. The housing communities will also include social amenity spaces, parking, infrastructure, utilities and a childcare center to accommodate up to 140 children.
Sustainable features will include no natural gas use for building equipment and appliances, natural ventilation for cooling, blackwater treatment system, photovoltaics, and LED lighting.
