IES SFLUX Awards Nomination

Apr 23, 2024

We are proud to announce that the Interior Lighting Design for Las Positas College - Building 2100, made it to the final round of consideration in the SF Section of the 2024 IES Illumination Awards.

The project moved to the final round competing with fifteen other projects for the honor of the Illumination Award for Interior Lighting Design, sponsored by Edwin Guth. This award recognizes exceptional interior lighting projects that balance the functional illumination of space with the artistic application of light to enhance the occupant’s experience.

Kristina Santi LC, Assoc. IALD, Associate Principal/Senior Lighting Designer, summarizes the project:

Las Positas College Building 2100 acts as both a support space for students requiring additional help and much needed office spaces for the faculty. Maintainability, lighting integration into various ceiling systems, and meeting code energy targets for additional decorative lighting to highlight the architectural design, were of critical importance. These goals were met with innovative lighting solutions within budget and careful coordination with the Architect. Significantly, energy usage for this project was 28% less than required Title 24 energy LPDs. Additional savings are achieved by lighting controls and partial on to 50% illuminance levels in lobby and study areas.

The IES Illumination Awards program recognizes individuals for professionalism, ingenuity, and originality in lighting design based on the individual merit of each entry. Read more about this prestigious program here: https://ia.ies.org/
